What is the difference between craft beer and normal beer?
When you go out to a Gold Coast bar you usually have the option of a standard or normal mass produced beer or a craft beer. A lot of people don’t understand what the real difference is, but what it comes down to is taste and quality. You really get what you pay for in many things such as the quality of the meals you order and also the beers you enjoy.
- The Difference
Before the days of mass production small breweries produced beer in the old fashioned way it had been done for hundreds of generations. Each pub or bar sold its own house beer that was distinct and individual. Then came mass produced beer, so everything became standardised and no matter where you choose to have a beer each brand was always the same.
Today, many pubs and bars have gone back to brewing their own beers or purchasing their beer from small craft breweries that produce beer in the traditional ways using only yeast, barley, malt, hops and water as the base with a few selected other ingredients that are there to give the beer its unique flavour and taste.
Standard regular breweries add a host of ingredients that help bring down the costs and to ensure the brew is always the same, but they cannot claim their beer is craft beer
- Cost
As can be expected to make a craft beer, it takes a lot more time and of course they only use pure ingredients. The processes are much the same, to make beer they both need to go through the same processes
- Is craft beer better than regular beer?
It really depends on the person doing the drinking or rather tasting. Some people, especially those who have been drinking the same brand for a long time have developed a taste for their particular favorite so they would probably prefer that.
Those who are a bit more adventurous in the tastes when going to a Gold Coast bar will find there are a lot of choices in different craft beers, so will find something they particularly like.
Craft beer usually has a stronger flavour than standard beer and also the alcohol content is generally a bit higher which may or may not be to an individual’s liking in the same way different wines appeal to different people’s tastes
- Are craft beers healthier?
Alcohol is alcohol and in this regard, they are pretty much the same, the main difference is that craft beer does not have the chemical additives found in standard beer and are suspected by many people of being the main source or reason for the hangovers of those who consume larger amounts
Many people will suggest that there is just no comparison or contest between craft beer and regular beer, the value and enjoyment you get for the money you spend is up to the individual, when going to a Gold Coast bar.
